The merit score and candidate’s rank in CLAT is essential for their admission to the 22 centrally recognized eminent law universities in the country. On the other hand, BLAT is the law entrance test that is responsible for admission only to the Banaras Hindu University. The Banaras Hindu University exclusively arranges for this exam. 

Till the previous year, the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT)  was conducted online, whereas the Banaras Hindu University Law Admission Test was conducted Offline. The total marks for CLAT are 150, whereas the total marks for BLAT are 450. Both CLAT and BLAT exams are of 2 hours duration.

Which is the Best Option – CLAT or BLAT?

The CLAT scores are accepted across India in almost all of the law colleges that are affiliated with any of the National Law Universities in India. Contrarily, the BLAT score is applicable only to the Department of Law at Benaras Hindu University. No other college or university in India will guarantee your seat or your academic entry to the institution on the basis of your CLAT marks. Even in the case of Public Service Units (PSUs), the CLAT scores are widely accepted, whereas the BLAT score is not accepted. BLAT score usually does not count during any PSU recruitment.
