Information About APO Exam
- The Rajasthan APO exam is a competitive examination conducted by the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) to recruit qualified candidates for the role of Assistant Public Prosecutor in the state’s legal services.
- This exam is designed to assess the legal knowledge, analytical abilities, and understanding of various laws that are crucial for functioning effectively in prosecutorial services.
- Candidates are tested on a wide range of legal subjects including the Indian Penal Code, Criminal Procedure Code, and Evidence Act, along with local laws that are specific to the state of Rajasthan such as the Rajasthan Excise Act.
The RPSC APO exam takes place in two stages:
- Prelims: APO preliminary exam is an objective-type (MCQ-based) test. A minimum of 40% marks are required in this exam to qualify for the mains exam (5% relaxation for SC and ST candidates).
- Mains: The Rajasthan APO mains exam is a written-type exam. There are two papers on this. Paper-II in this exam tests your language proficiency on a Senior Secondary (12th) level.
Whereas, the Paper-I (Law) tests your practical knowledge in criminal law and procedure of framing charges in criminal cases.
- Candidates must possess either a Professional Law degree or an Integrated Law degree from an Indian university recognized by law.
- The age range for male candidates in the general and unreserved categories is between 21 and 40 years as of January 1, 2025.
- Female candidates from the general category are eligible for a five-year age relaxation, making the age limit 21 to 45 years.
- Male candidates from Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes, Very Backward Classes, and Economically Weaker Sections have a five-year age relaxation, with an age range of 21 to 45 years.
- Females belonging to ST/SC/VBC/EWS categories are eligible for a ten-year age relaxation, extending the age limit to 21 to 50 years.
- There is no upper age limit for widowed or divorced women applying for the Rajasthan APO exam.
