How to Register for CLAT Exam 2022 Counselling?

The CLAT counselling process is done through a centralized online system. The entire process will be done as per the CLAT dates created by the conducting authorities.

Given below is the procedure for final admissions to the 22 NLUs.

Step1: Result Declaration

After the results and merit list are declared, the list of the shortlisted candidates will be available on the official website. The list will be released on the basis of merit-cum-preference of CLAT score. The first list for CLAT counselling will be declared after the results are published.

Step 2: Selecting the NLUs

The shortlisted candidates will be invited to register for their preferred NLUs through the CLAT website. Candidates need to select at least five preferred colleges. Also, they must know that no changes will be allowed after the last date of submission.

Students must select the colleges by considering their rank and marks against the seats. Remember that candidates cannot update their college preferences, and they will be considered for only those NLUs which they have provided.

Step 3: Payment of Fees

After candidates have selected their preferred colleges, they have to pay the fees of INR 50,000 to be provisionally selected. Candidates are advised to pay the fees online through the official website. Only the candidates who participate in the counselling process will be considered for the seat allotment process.

Step 4: Seat Allotment List

The allotment of the seats is done after considering the options selected by the candidates. The seat allotment lists will be available online on the official website. The candidates who have not been allotted a seat in the first round should wait till the fourth list.

Step 5: End of Admissions

The candidates who have been allotted a seat for their selected college have three options:

  • Accept the Seat: Candidates can choose to lock their seat allotted, thereby debarring to shift to any other NLU of their choice. After that, candidates will not be considered for further seat allotments to any other NLUs of their preference.
  • Choose for an Upgrade: Candidates can choose for an upgrade, in which they will be considered against any other vacancies in their preferred NLUs. However, this option is applicable to those who have participated in the first round and have not yet locked their seats.
  • Withdrawal from CLAT Seat Allotment: If candidates opt to quit the CLAT admission process, they will forfeit their present seat and will not be considered for future seat allotments either.

If candidates do not choose any of the aforementioned choices by the required date, they will be deemed uninterested and not be given admissions.
